I went in for my first mammogram at age 40 and discovered there was a small lump in my right breast. Further testing showed that the lump was cancerous. Since it was caught early, the tumor was still contained locally and removal was possible via lumpectomy. Now I remind all the women I care about to go for their yearly mammograms.
